Hey all you trail riders,
A couple of months ago while discussing things to do this summer a trail ride in the Sweetwaters, up to Mt. Patterson, aka Marz, was brought up. I forgot to post it, but recently found the date in some old meeting notes. Thank Ed B. for reminding me about it.
Sunday July 19, 2015.
The riding consists of fun roads and trails. Mostly rocky. Some a little, some very rocky, with challenging sections. Watch for cows on the lower roads.
The views are the absolute best around. The top of Mt. Patterson is 11,600 ft high.
Take Hwy 395 south past Topaz. Drive 5.4 miles past the Ca. Ag. inspection station and turn left on Topaz Lane. Go 3.5 miles to the end of Topaz Ln. and turn left. On the dirt road 0.2 miles turn right up on to a flat staging/shooting area. Someone please bring a garbage bag to pick up spent shells left by stupid people.
***NOTE***
This is not the place to ride if there is a chance of thunder storms and lightning. The vast majority of the riding is open and exposed.
Meet at 9:00AM at the staging/shooting area.
This is Toiyabe National Forest in California, so an OHV sticker (NV or CA) is required.
Our PNMTA general meeting will be held August 11, 2015.
7:00 pm at the flight Restaurant.
2244 Airport Road, Minden, Nevada.
Agenda items to include: Discussion of club officers, to be elected at the October meeting. A club motorized poker run in September. The Reno Ride 200 dual sport ride, in September. The Ivesone Ranch camp/ride weekend, the first weekend of October. + whatever is on your mind.

See you there.

Our annual camp / ride trip to Ivesone ranch is a bit late this year but the fall temperatures should be nice.
For those who haven’t been to the Ivesone Ranch it’s an old working ranch with camping, a variety of rooms, large covered outdoor cooking area, year around stream, and riding for all interests and levels right from the ranch. It’s situated near the Black Rock Desert just north of Gerlach Nevada.
Check out www.ivesonranch.com for pictures and details.
Contact JB (info on the website) for room reservations and ranch info.

See you there.

Hey Pine Nut Members,
I’m heading up this years cleanup.
The dates are Saturday May 14 at Johnson Lane, and Sunday May 15 at Pine Nut Rd.
Here’s a list of things that I need help with.
- Need people to scout out locations of dump spots. If possible bring a GPS and get the location coordinates. At least bring a note pad to write general location description and route from a known spot. Also write down what type of trash and how gnarly the route is. Would it need high clearance 4×4 or would a 2 wheel drive truck be OK. Can a trailer get there. How many truck loads. Is it bags of kitchen garbage or broken up concrete? We match the garbage and location with appropriate people and their rigs.
- Will need some people at the staging area first thing in the morning to sign people up and get them out to their dump spots.
- Will need people at the staging area to help unload the garbage from the trucks and trailers and into the dumpsters.
- About one month before will need people to help bring fliers to locations around town. Bike shops (peddle and motor), hiking/outdoor shops, auto shops, gun stores, Visitor Center, are all places we have brought flyers in the past. Anywhere with a bulletin board that may get attention of folks like us that use the backcountry.
- Need people to contact other user groups.
- We have marked with flagging the route in to some of the harder to find dump locations. Usually the day before so there is less chance of do-gooder people pulling the flagging.
- We will need some of our members to go out and clean up some dump spots also.
- I’m sure there are things I’m missing, but this is a good start.
This is for both days. Please let me know if you can help one or both days and what you would like to do so I can plan.
Thanks,
Doug Holcomb

Hey PNMTA Members,
Our 2016 Iveson Ranch camping/riding trip is happening Memorial Weekend, May 28, 29, 30.
For those who have never been, the Iveson Ranch is an old Nevada working ranch that has been transformed into a guest ranch. Being about 25 miles north of Gerlach, it’s a gateway to great exploring in the northwest Nevada/Black Rock Desert area.
Check out www.ivesonranch.com
JB, the owner and all the staff are very friendly, mellow people which fits the whole ranch. It’s very kid- and dog friendly if your dogs are friendly. Dogs must be always in control as there are horses in the pasture and deer will be roaming the pastures and orchard.
There is a large pavilion with gas BBQs, counters and sink for us to cook on if we choose. If we would like them to, JB can cook up a killer group dinner, and can have group breakfasts with fresh eggs from their chickens.
Check out the price menu below and lets make some reservations at our April meeting.
