PNMTA day hike. Saturday July 7.
Meet at Luther Pass 10:00AM. Should take about two hours.
From Carson Valley, drive Hwy 88 to Hope Valley, turn right (north toward Tahoe) on Hwy 89 at Picketts Junction. At the top of the hill, park at the first turnout on the left.
The hike is fairly short at about 3 miles. There is some trail and some off trail walking with mild route finding over loose rock, etc. Some of the trail section will be on the historic California Trail. The off trail section will have a “mostly” gentle accent of about 400ft. The pace will will be whatever everyone wants to do. No rush.
Meadow views, aspen’s, large pines and Mountain Junipers, and a nice view of Hope Valley / Woodfords Canyon.
This hike is Good Dog friendly, though there is no water on the route and some granite for those with tender paws. There are deer in the area if your dog is a chaser. And probably mountain bikes on the last 1/2 mile.
Stay tuned for more details!
